Pegasus Opera
OK, time to come clean I don’t actually have any Opera add-ons to offer but I have actually worked on the core product so I do know it!
A little history for those that might be interested(!);Back in 1991 I was working for a small independant software house that had a superb modular accounting system for DOS. The company was called FACTS software and we were a small, agile and close knit team. The company also sold their EasiFacts accounts and payroll software priced for startups. All excellent products.
Then in 1992 we were acquired by Pegasus and we all moved and worked for them in Kettering. One of the founders of Pegasus, Johnny Johnstone had left and was working a project code-named SQL accounts. Pegasus then acquired this product and branded it Opera.
Around this time, early 1993, a new management team came in and most of the old FACTS employees along with Pegasus ones in the division that I worked in were made redundant. I later found out that it was such a bad decision that the person doing the firing got themselves fired too!
Anyway, getting back on track I had spent the last few years doing Clipper and FoxPro development and Opera being written in FoxPro meant there was a chance for me to return to Pegasus a couple of years later to do maintenance and enhancement work alongside the core development team.
Its always been a good product but if you need to make it better perhaps get in touch!
